Beautiful diamonds and exceptional craftsmanship shouldn't require an inflated price tag. And yet, for most fine jewelry shoppers, that's exactly what they encounter. The culprit isn't the quality of the piece; it's the length of the supply chain behind it.

Milano Jewelry was built around a different model. As one of the world's few true direct-to-consumer fine jewelry retailers, we own both our design studio in the heart of New York City's diamond district and our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India. That means no wholesale intermediaries, no layered markups, and significantly lower costs passed directly to you. That's the real difference when you compare Milano vs. traditional retail.

Milano vs. Traditional Retail: Our No-Markup Manufacturing Model

We've laid out the typical price ranges below to show you how far Milano's manufacturing model stretches your budget compared to traditional retail pricing.

Jewelry Piece

$1,480

Five Stone Lab Diamond Ring (1 carat, 14K Gold)

Lab Diamond Tennis Bracelet (2 carat, 14K Gold)

Most jewelry brands, even the ones that market themselves as "direct-to-consumer," don't actually make their own jewelry. They design a piece, contract a third-party factory to produce it, pay a manufacturing fee, and mark up the price to cover it. That cost gets passed on to you, quietly, with no line item on the receipt. Most shoppers never know it's there.

Milano works differently because we own both our manufacturing facility and our design studio. So when you buy from us, you're paying for the jewelry itself, not for the layers of the supply chain behind it. That difference shows up directly in the price, without any compromise on workmanship or quality.

  • Milano's retail markup can be up to two times lower than that of traditional jewelry retailers, and on a single piece, that gap can translate to hundreds of dollars.
  • Because we control our entire manufacturing and design process, we're able to produce pieces that are far superior in quality to what most other jewelers can offer at a comparable price point.

Our Crafting Process

Every Milano piece moves through a careful, hands-on process before it reaches you. Here's what that looks like from start to finish.

  • Design Inspiration: Every collection begins with the world around us. Milano draws inspiration from fashion, nature, and the vivid beauty of the Caribbean Islands, which gives our pieces a warmth and character you won't find in a catalog.
  • Diamond and Gemstone Sourcing: Our buyers travel the world to find the finest conflict-free natural diamonds and gemstones, adhering strictly to the Kimberley Process along the way. The goal is simple: stones you can feel genuinely good about wearing.
  • Mold Creation and 3D Design: We combine the best of both worlds here, pairing traditional hand-carved wax molds with modern 3D digital rendering to bring each design to life with precision and artistry.
  • Metal Casting: Wax casting is at the heart of how we produce most of our pieces, a process that transforms raw material into refined form. We also work with rolling mills and laser machines where the design calls for it.
  • Stone Setting: Once each piece is cast and prepped, our skilled artisans hand-set every diamond and gemstone under microscopes, placing each stone with exact precision. Hand-setting takes more time than wax-setting, but the result is jewelry that's as secure as it is beautiful.
  • Polishing and Perfecting: The final step is bringing out the brilliance. Each piece is polished and cleaned by hand so that the moment it arrives, it's ready to wear.

Quality and Certifications

Quality isn't something we leave to chance. Before any piece leaves our facilities, it goes through rigorous inspection to make sure it meets our standards, not just for appearance, but for craftsmanship and durability too.

Every Milano piece also comes with certification from an independent gemological organization, either the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Both are among the most respected institutions in the industry, known for their unbiased evaluations of diamonds, gemstones, and finished jewelry. When your order arrives, your certified jewelry report comes with it, so you know exactly what you have.

Enjoy Quality Without the Markup

Every piece in the Milano collection reflects the same principle: exceptional craftsmanship at a lower price. Because we design and manufacture in-house, the savings that would otherwise go to a wholesaler or middleman stay where they belong, with you.
